Sitting in his driveway, Adrian Smith leans slightly on his treasured time capsule and smiles.

Adrian Smith prepares to take a spin in the car he chose in 1966 for winning the NBA All-Star Game MVP honor at the Cincinnati Gardens.
He’s been photographed numerous times over the years with his 1966 Ford Galaxie. And this day brings a new opportunity for photos.

The 79-year-old Anderson Township resident kindly obliges.

On an unseasonably warm November morning, Smith explains how he was awarded the vintage vehicle for being the 1966 NBA All-Star Game MVP. The weather has to be ideal for the car to be granted a release from his garage.

It’s that famous.

Players from that era remember the car.

“Everybody was happy about that for him,” former NBA general manager and Royals center Cheap Wayne Embry Jersey told The Enquirer late last year.

The former Cincinnati Royals guard has a crisp enthusiasm in his voice when he reflects on the night of Jan. 11, 1966 at the Cincinnati Gardens. He proudly shows the original Ford Galaxie paperwork he received with the vehicle in 1966. The Galaxie is still a shade under 60,000 miles. It is quite the eye candy.

And he is quite the unexpected former athlete, his humility and graciousness courtesy of his western Kentucky upbringing.

With the top down, Smith gets in the driver’s seat while three seated visitors wait for his next move. He carefully edges the car down the steep incline of the driveway and starts to cruise the neighborhood.

Sitting behind him is his son, Tyler Smith, who was six months old at the time of the big game.

Adrian’s younger passengers fire questions about the car at him like chest passes. He calmly answers each one like converting a layup.

Best player in the Galaxie

Every NBA All-Star had their eye on that red convertible at the Cincinnati Gardens that night in January 1966. It had been on display in the Gardens annex for a few games prior to Jan. 11.

Smith had a photo taken with the red car. He figured he had a 20-1 shot before the game to win the vehicle.

But, his performance that night soon made it clear he was destined to be the driver.

“‘Hey, Smitty,’ Wilt Chamberlin said during a timeout huddle. “‘You’re making it awfully tough for me to win that car.'”

The Golo, Kentucky, native has joked over the years about how the car passes everything but a gas station.

But, its thoroughbred mentality is also evident. Smith knows. There was a time on the highway trip when the needle on the speedometer veered significantly to the right.

Tyler used to drive the car when he attended Turpin High School. He jokes he would never have ever returned home if the car was wrecked. Thankfully, that was never an issue.

To Cheap Adrian Smith Jersey, who grew up without indoor plumbing or electricity, the car represents a proud moment of his pro basketball career. But he also reiterates how blessed he was.

“Maybe I was the best player in the world that night,” Smith said. “I had no idea I would picked for the car or MVP of the All-Star Game. If I would’ve played a minute, I would’ve been satisfied.”

Smith drove the red vehicle for a few months and even showed it to his parents in western Kentucky.

But, he later turned it into the Ford office in Evendale and doesn’t know what happened to it.

Smith had the option to choose his own color for the car he owns today. He went for a combination of a silver blue with a dark blue top for the 7-litre, 428 cubic-inch engine vehicle.

The reason was simple. His loyalty to the University of Kentucky – where he played on Adolph Rupp’s 1958 national championship team – has never wavered.

The man could not be seen in a red car.

There is no price for the car. Multiple offers have been declined over the years. Smith has his Royals uniforms and his MVP trophy with no intention to sell them either.

Smith still has these items because late wife Paula made sure to keep all his basketball mementos.

Paula died in August. The couple would have been married 53 years in September.

Adrian remembers how Paula sat in the driver’s seat of the original red Ford Galaxie Smith received that night at the Gardens.

“Yougonnalet Mrs. Smith drive it once in a while?” Harry Caray asked Adrian.

Hearing that, the Gardens crowd roared with delight.

The game was close through two and a half quarters, but the Suns pulled away from there to beat the Kings 116-100.

The thees finally fell for the Suns, making 14-35, and Deandre Ayton tallied a double double while playing strong defense.

Cam Johnson had 21 points off the bench and Mikal Bridges scored 22 to lead the starters.

Game Flow:

Having depth is key for the Phoenix Suns in the back-to-back, but with bad news, Jalen Smith is a late scratch and will not be able to help take up some minutes to give rest to the starters.

It will be interesting to see how Monty Williams shares the minutes off the bench. A physical game from the Kings will lead to valuable minutes off the bench for a player or players to step up.

First half
The focus to open up the game for the Suns is to get the ball to Deandre Ayton leading to one turnover and a blocked shot by Cheap Marvin Bagley III Jersey. The Sacramento Kings continue to put pressure on the Suns on the defensive, bleeding over from the night before.

First points for Ayton are from down town, grabbing three pointer of the season.

Frist timeout is called by the Kings with 7:01 left in the first quarter with the Suns taking 12-10 lead. Ayton is being fed the ball early and has managed to put up five points and three rebounds in the early going and most importantly zero fouls.

Kings came back with two quick threes out of the time out to take a 16-12 lead.

What was a 6-0 run by the Kings turned into a 10-0 run. Monty lets the Suns play on without stopping play and regrouping.

Devin Booker finally gets a bucket to go down, leading to an and-1, followed by a Cam Johnson three-pointer closing the gap to a 22-20 Kings lead.

With Chris Paul on the bench, Booker is facilitating the offense hitting Mikal Bridges for his second 3-pointer of the night.

Cam Payne off the bench is getting things going with five points and keeping things close.

Unable to get a last second shot off the end the quarter, Booker throws the ball one handed at the back board in frustration.

The Suns trail the Kings 33-28 to end the first quarter.

Jevon Carter and Johnson continue the help offensively early in the second quarter with back to back threes. Johnson follows it up with a three-point-play after being hacked on a jump shot.

Timeout by the Kings with 9:22 as the Suns tie the game at 39 with a quick and easy layup by Bridges.

The Suns come out of the timeout sloppy and unable to knockdown a shot. Monty calls a timeout as the Suns trail the Kings now 43-41. It is notable that this might be the Cam Johnson game. He now has 11 points and doing his part going 2-2 from behind the arc.

Langston Galloway comes in and does his job, helping the Suns offense. A quick five points helps the Suns tie the game up at 46. The ball movement to give Galloway a look at the rim early is a big part of getting him in rhythm. He is the fire starter for the the Suns when they need it most.

Frank Kaminski is playing those valuable minutes I spoke of in the beginning. Nothing too flashy but very effective at using his body to get a offensive board and a put back layup.

The Suns finish the first-half very strong leading 56-53.

Ayton with his best first-half of the season with 7-points/ 8-rebounds/ 4-assists and only one foul!

Booker was quite when it comes to scoring but is looking to get his teammates involved with four assists.

The refs give the Suns only a couple chances at the line as Booker is still looking for respect and unable to draw fouls, only going 1-1 from the line in the first-half.

Second half
The Suns begin the second-half sloppy. A couple turnovers lead to easy baskets for the Kings who take a 61-56 lead after a 8-0 run.

Timeout by Monty… finally as the Kings take a 64-58 lead with Cheap Buddy Hield Jersey finishing off a 11-2 run with another 3.

Booker still seems distant from teammates this game, not showing support or talking to teammates on the court… maybe its just me?

Sacramento is continuing to play tough on defense. They are making everything very difficult for Booker and the Suns offense.

6:00 in the 3rd and the Kings have a 70-65 lead. It is a back-n-forth game that will most likely come down to the last possession.

Johnson again off the bench with another 3 to tie the game at 73. The 3’s that would not go down last night are falling tonight. The Suns are now 11-24 from 3.

Galloway with a 4-point play from the corner giving the Suns a 81-76 lead. Always locked and loaded. The Suns are now on a 11-4 run.

Biggest lead in the game for the Suns as they go up 88-78 with Frank finishing off a layup that barely went in.

The Suns close out the 3rd quarter with a 90-78 lead. Johnson is leading the way off the bench with 17 points and Payne drawing two big charges on De’Aaron Fox.

Starting the fourth quarter off right, the Suns continue to serge but need to continue to play smart as this game is far from over. With that said, a 98-84 lead is a solid way to begin the fourth.

Paul with 8 points and 10 assists is starting the fourth quarter and will likely head to the bench for a rest when Booker comes in to finish the fourth.

Forcing another turnover (13 now for the Suns) leads to an easy basket for Bridges who now has 19 points. The Suns are now up 102-88 and still show focus on their face as Booker takes the ball away leading to a Bridges 3.

Pulling away, the Suns lead goes to 19 as the Kings seem tired and careless… Booker looks happy now. I just get worried sometime. Now that the team is grinning from ear to ear, this one looks like a wrap.

Bagley was selected second overall in the 2018 NBA Draft by previous general manager Cheap Vlade Divac Jersey, who took the Duke product over Luka Doncic and Trae Young, citing the presence of point guard De’Aaron Fox.

Dave Joerger was the head coach in Bagley’s rookie season, and he brought him along slowly. Bagley played 25.3 minutes per game in his first year, averaging 14.9 points and 7.6 rebounds while shooting 50.4 percent from the field.

The 21-year-old didn’t make the splash most fans were hoping for. It wasn’t easy seeing Doncic light up the league while Bagley struggled to find his footing. Still, he put up some good numbers his rookie year when Sacramento won 39 games.

Bagley’s sophomore season was marred by injury. He only suited up for 13 games, averaging 14.2 points and 7.5 rebounds while playing 25.7 minutes per contest. He suffered a thumb injury during the first game of the 2019-20 campaign and never fully recovered. He appeared in 12 more games before the league shut down because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Things got worse while the Kings were getting ready for the restart in Orlando. Bagley sprained his foot during practice and missed all eight of the team’s games. Even when Bagley was on the court, the underlying numbers weren’t encouraging.

Sacramento won just two of the 13 games he played in, and the team was 11.7 points better per 100 possessions with Bagley off the floor, per

What is his best-case scenario for 2020-21?
As the cliche goes, the best ability is availability. Bagley has to stay healthy this season for the organization to know what he brings to the table. When he is healthy, Bagley has been a solid contributor both scoring and rebounding the basketball.

The third-year forward put up nine points and four rebounds in 16 minutes of action during the Kings’ preseason win over the Golden State Warriors. It was his first game action in nearly 11 months, so it wasn’t surprising to see him a bit rusty. Bagley needs to turn into a double-double machine this season and begin to show why Sacramento selected him No. 2.

Bagley’s size and athleticism make him the prototypical 4 in today’s NBA. He has the tools to be an excellent fit with De’Aaron Fox in the pick-and-roll and allows head coach Luke Walton the option to play small by sliding Bagley to center. His per-36 minutes are fantastic, so if he can stay in the lineup, look for Walton to increase Bagley’s minutes compared to the 25.7 he averaged last season. It would also be a significant win for Bagley and the Kings if he can develop his outside shooting and stretch the floor for Fox and co.

Defensively, Bagley has the quickness not to be a liability when switching onto opposing guards. If he can have more of a shot-blocking presence and learn how to be a better positional defender, it would go a long way to cement his status with the franchise for the foreseeable future.

What is his worst-case scenario?
Bagley suffers another long-term injury. Playing in only 13 games last season slowed down his growth, and if he can’t stay in the lineup this season, general manager Monte McNair will have to decide if Bagley is durable enough to be a cornerstone for the team.

If Bagley doesn’t improve defensively, Walton could look to keep him around 25 minutes per game. Sacramento has Cheap Richaun Holmes Jersey, Cheap Hassan Whiteside Jersey and Cheap Frank Kaminsky Jersey on the roster, plus Walton has shown that he’s comfortable playing Cheap Harrison Barnes Jersey at the 4. If Bagley can’t hold his own — especially on the defensive end — he could find himself buried behind the quartet of veterans.

This is a massive season for Bagley. The franchise hopes he can develop into the Robin next to Fox’s Batman so the team can build around the pair for years to come. No. he won’t equal Doncic’s production, but if Bagley can stay healthy and continue to refine his game, he can undoubtedly become the double-double machine the Kings hope he can be.

It’s way too early to give up on Bagley yet, but the onus is on him to show that he can be a long-term answer for the franchise. If he can’t this season, his time with the team could end after his fourth season.

How do you think Bagley will perform this season?
